Rhinoplasty
If you want to get a new look, why not try getting a nose job? Whether the reason why youre going for a rhinoplasty is because youve gotten a bad hand in the genetic game of chance that dictates how your nose looks like, or because you got half your face eaten by a shark, dont worry. This particular cosmetic surgery procedure has been around for thousands of years. Literally!
Out of all the cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries out there, one of the oldest and most popular kinds is rhinoplasty. And when I say oldest, I do mean oldest: rhinoplastys been around since as early as 500 B.C. Why? Because, apparently, in ancient India, one of the more popular forms of punishment for crimes was nose amputation.
Pretty gruesome, right? Well, even if the nose job isnt quite used for that specific purpose anymore, it does still play a big part in fixing peoples faces. Plastic surgeons arent the only people who do rhinoplasties.
Because this kind of procedure is also often used to correct breathing difficulties and other similar problems, other kinds of surgeons perform rhinoplasty too; like maxillofacial surgeons and otolaryngologists (these are surgeons who concentrate mostly on the head and neck).
There are a lot of different techniques for getting a nose job. Theres even one where you dont even need to go under the scalpel. Non-surgical rhinoplasty involves injecting filler into the nose so that the shape of the nose changes.
The good thing about it is that its about as non-invasive as a Botox injection. Like a Botox injection though, this kind of nose job usually isnt permanent. There are certain types of filler that are, but for the most part, the filler usually fades away in a few months to a year.
Of course, most of the time, rhinoplasty will take a little more than just a syringe and some filler; itll usually take the usual surgical instruments and a few meant specifically for just this kind of surgical procedure.
