It can be for a variety of things but the basic premise is the same.

It is where you identify a problem in your life or an achievement you wish to accomplish and then you set the goal to meet that particular issue. Setting goals is something people use every day but often do not know it.
You may have a stack of papers that you need to grade or review and you tell yourself that you will have it done by the end of the day. Congratulations you have just set a goal.
The problem with most goals that are set is that many people do not know how to take the steps needed to reach those goals. Setting a goal that you want to be rich and famous is great but if you do not have a logical plan to reach that goal, you will find it unattainable. What types of goals do people generally set for themselves? Goal setting varies from person to person.
In the workplace goals may be set to achieve certain sales records or to complete projects.
The workplace, i. e. the employers or bosses, may set individual goals for certain areas or may present a companywide goal that everyone works on. A good example of this would be to increase revenue in a certain quarter without being forced to downsize. Personal goals may be losing weight, stopping smoking or simply spending more time with the family. Goals are intensely personal so what one person has as a goal may not be the same as another. How realistic should the goals be that I set? Goal setting should be reasonable, but at the same time it never hurts to aim high. Sure, you might not be able to marry a celebrity, but that does not mean that you cannot make it your aim to become fit or audition for a local play.
There are always going to be some goals that are unreachable.
You have to be able to differentiate between the two. Most goals are achievable if you work at it enough. Can I get professional help with my goal setting? If you find that your goal setting methods are failing as a rule, you might need some outside help. Life coaches and motivational speakers are very good at helping people see what areas of their lives could do with some improvement. A life coach can help you take a realistic look at your objectives and help you establish the most effective approach to meeting them. He or she can then help to motivate you along the way. By learning how to keep motivated you can ultimately begin taking on your goals yourself without the help of a professional.
