The Top Five Reasons People Aren’t Making Money Inventing

A lack of focus:

You have to be aware of your surroundings in order to have successful inventions. Don't focus completely on inventing, but when you go through the day you need to be able to notice when you see something that could possibly be a problem to solve with an invention.

I carry around a journal where I can write down my thoughts. This journal also helps tangibly remind me to think about inventing, which is what a good inventor has to be able to do. People are uninformed: Most people don't know the first thing about following up with their idea.

I will admit that this was definitely my biggest problem when I started inventing. Patenting and other legal things are very mysterious to the average person.

There are also thousands of other websites and books featuring information about inventing. Being informed greatly helps your ability and desire to pioneer a profitable invention. Fear inhibits people: Fear is one of the biggest barriers in everything we do, including inventing. People get scared that their invention won't make it or that their idea will be publicly ridiculed.

I guarantee both of those will happen, but you can't let stupid people and possible failure stop you from making easy money inventing. People can't take criticism: This is similar to fear, but I think it is different. When you come up with an invention idea people are going to criticize it, that's a guarantee. Many people can't handle this and allow critics to convince them that their idea isn't good.

If people are criticizing your idea that means it is unique.

You can heckle them when your idea is bringing in a substantial profit.

You need commitment: This is huge because commitment makes or breaks you in inventing. Commitment also allows a person to conquer all of the other reasons that I have mentioned.

If you are completely submerged in inventing and don't allow time constraints or ignorant people to get in your way, then you will be successful.
