Good Leadership Skills And Dad

Does it take good leadership skills to be a father? No, not to be a father! But it does take leadership skills to be a Dad! To father a child is the fun part that takes absolutely no learned skills whatsoever! However, being a good Dad takes commitment and sacrifice.

I believe those two elements are the foundation of what makes up a good leader. Today we need men, real men, to pull up their boot straps and get back to the basics of what is required to make a good solid home for their families.

They need to get back to where their word was their bond that could not be broken.

They need to sacrifice their time and resources to insure their families have the things they need to grow and thrive on.

They need to take the time to teach their child about life skills!

They need to spend time just having fun with them also!

These are good leadership skills that men need to get back to before it's too late! So how do we get back to those times when a Father was a Dad? A time when we looked to our Dad as someone that could do anything! He was the leader of the home, and not just a paycheck! He wasn't a dictator; he led by example and continually demonstrated good leadership skills. A true Dad that would sacrifice sleep in order to stay up with his child when they were sick, even when he had to be up early for work the next day. We need Dad's that are willing to commit to their child's mother no matter how difficult the times get. To commit their love, their support, their income, their time, and anything else it takes to make a successful home for the family. One very important thing that demonstrates good leadership skills more than anything else is an understanding that it isn't about you! It's about them! Even if things go very badly and you must separate from their mother, don't be childish about it and make the children pay. Continue with your responsibilities by financially supporting your children, being at any of their activities, offering advice, being available at any time, or anything else it takes. That's what leaders do, they lead!

They make sacrifices even if no one else knows they are, because it isn't about them, it's about your child! Good leadership skills take monumental commitment and sacrifice to those you are responsible for, whether in business or your family. Leaders have the end in mind and know that pain most likely will be experienced on the way to achieving a successful outcome. Like telling your child they can't have certain friends that you know are up to no good. Like not letting them get involved in certain activities that can only spell trouble.

It may be a battle up front but the rewards are great!
