Mike The Situation Reaches Fame With The Jersey Shore

Once ruled by sitcoms and talk shows, the media has found a new cash crop: reality t. V. Regular people are celebrities overnight. This new craze is sweeping the nations. Watching how everyday people react to unusual circumstances has become, for most of us, an irresistible nightly programing option. Dozens of people are now considered famous and continue their time in the spotlight by partying at hot night clubs and making appearances at a huge variety of events. One of the more memorable, even if only because they are of the most recent over night celebrities, is Mike

The Situation. At the end of 2009 MTV, a network that is already home to many reality shows, introduced us to a whole new group of would be stars. Taking place in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, the concept was simple. Eight young people, most Italian Americans, would live, work, and party together for the summer. One of the cast members, a twenty seven year old Staten Island native has received so much media attention since the show aired that he is now calling himself the 'Reality King'. Mike Sorrentino may be famous now, but before the show he was an assistant manager at a fitness center. Sharing a philosophy on what it takes to look your best is just one of several factors that brought cast members Mike and Pauly D together almost instantly.

These proud to be 'Guido' house mates joined each other in an almost daily routine of working out, tanning beds, laundry mats, and barber shops.

They stuck to their 'G. T. L. ' as countless viewers watched.

The two formed a bond, and even eventually picked up girls together. Mike and Pauly D were not the only 2 interested in casual encounters at the shore. As house mates spent night after night drinking and partying at bars and clubs, hooking up seemed to be on everyone's mind. Mike, however, was relentless in his pursuits, even bringing multiple girls to the house on the same night. He saved phone numbers, and called the various women he had met whenever he or his roommates wanted dates. His luck with women didn't seem to slow even after his reputation began to spread. As with any group of people there were difficulties as well as fun. Tensions between Mike and Ronnie lasted most of the season after Ronnie began dating Sami, who kissed Mike previously. House mate Jenny even hit Mike in the face after he refused to leave a club to escort her home. Mike also played small pranks on cast members, including hiding a smelly mix of foods under Vinny's bed.

The 8 overnight stars seem to be enjoying the spotlight as they appear in clubs and on talk shows. We haven't seen the last of them. Mike
