Is your wallet overflowing with stuff? Do you frequently get frustrated that you can't find what you need because there are receipts, notes, or business cards crowding the important things? Below are a few simple tips on how to quickly and easily get your wallet organized and keep it organized.
You'll discover what to keep and what NOT to keep in your wallet, how to be ready for an emergency, and how to protect yourself. Things that SHOULD be in your wallet* Gift Cards – Treat these like cash and keep them with your cash. Over 30% of all gift cards are lost and never get redeemed. * Credit Cards – Keep the credit cards you use with you.
If you have cards you are no longer using, keep them in an envelope in your safe deposit box or shred them. * Driver's License or ID* Emergency Contact Card – On a piece of paper that is approximately business card size, type the names and numbers of two different people you would like someone to contact if there were an emergency. After laminating it, keep it behind your ID or Drivers' license.
The police and/or hospital would then know whom to call if you were in an accident. * Medical Insurance Card – This would also be helpful in an emergency or accident. * Auto Insurance Card – If you are an owner and operator of a vehicle, a copy of your insurance card in your wallet can be helpful. Usually, insurance companies will send you more than one.
It would be useful if your car were stolen or if you didn't have access to the one in the glove box. TIP: Photocopy everything in your wallet. Make sure you copy the front and the back of all of your credit cards.
Your safe deposit box is a great place to keep copies.
If you were to lose your wallet or if it were stolen, you would know exactly what you lost and whom you would need to call.
Items that you should NOT keep in your wallet* Business Cards -
You could keep a couple of your own business cards in your wallet. But, as you collect business cards of other people, either enter them into your address book and toss them, or place them in a file. * Receipts – Place your receipts into a simple and efficient filing system as soon as you get home from shopping. My Fast-Filing Method program explains how to set up a super fast self-cleansing filing system. * Misc Notes & Papers – Instead of writing on sticky notes and napkins and shoving them in your wallet, use a more efficient system for organizing your information.
I explain how to use a Capture Tool to easily and efficiently keep track of misc information in my Fast-Filing Method. May this year be your best and most organized yet!
