A Second Place Finish On Idol Doesn’t Happen To Be Too Shabby

Instead of plugging away for years on end, a short cut to instant fame and recognition is to get onto American Idol and become a star. While some winners have, quite frankly, disappeared without trace, the likes of Jordin Sparks and Kelly Clarkson have proved they have the talent to stay in the game.

In ordinary circumstances, finishing as runner up would be devastating, but not in this competition it isn't.

There are many who have gone to outshine the ones who were crowned the winner, so coming second is no hardship as far as the American public is concerned.

It must be a good feeling to enter a competition knowing that even if you don't win you have a great chance of being successful. Clay Aiken shuffled onto stage looking like a rabbit caught in headlamps, he looked so out of place we felt sorry for him.

It looks as if this year's second placed contestant Adam Lambert is taking his place on this list too. He was beaten on the night by Kris Allen but in the months since that night, Lambert's career is going from strength to strength while Allen's seems to have stalled.
