The first book is “Corellis Mandolin”, written by Louis de Bernires.
The book is also known by the name of Captain Corellis Mandolin. This is a 1993 novel, which is written about the island of Cephallonia (kefalonia) during the Italian and German occupation of World War II.
The story is about Antonio Corelli, an Italian captain, and Pelagia, the daughter of the local physician, Dr.
Iannis.
The most horrifying part of the book is related to the massacre of Italian troops by the Germans in September 1943.
The writer has very beautifully expressed the mixture of love and war. “Driving Over Lemons”; an Optimist in Andalucia by Chris Stewart is on the number two spot for classic reads.
The story of this novel revolves around the author who is buying a farmhouse in Spain.
The story is so intense that once you read it you would feel like selling all of your possessions and going over to Spain to settle down once and for all.

It was selected as one of the 100 great works of English literature by the Modern Library and won the 1924 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction. Time magazine included the novel in its “TIME 100 Best English-language Novels from 1923 to 2005″. “Evil Under the Sun” is on the number four spot for classic reads. This novel is a work of detective creative writing by Agatha Christie. Collins Crime Club in June 1941 was the first one to publish it in the UK.

Last but not least, the fifth read on the list is Middlesex, a novel by Jeffrey Eugenides.
It was published in 2002 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2003.
The narrator and protagonist, Calliope Stephanides (later called “Cal”), an inter-sexed person of Greek descent, has 5-alpha-reductase deficiency.
The bulk of the novel is devoted to telling his coming-of-age story growing up in Detroit, Michigan in the late 20th century. This story, however, is intertwined with elements of a family saga, meditations on the zeitgeist of the era and bits of contemporary history.
