Astral Projection – Out Of Body

'Out of Body' is a term that is denoted to specific experiences of man which involves a feeling of traveling or floating outside one's own body. Commonly known as OBE, short for out of body experiences, the concept is synonymous to 'autoscopy', which refers to watching one's own body and the world from a separate location and 'astral projection', referring to leaving one's body and traveling to another astral plane. Out of body experiences occur in various stages of withdrawal, comatose, separation, flexibility and return phases.

In the first step of withdrawal, the body stops responding to inputs from the sense organs.

It is a state which is similar to that of sleeping when your body does not interact with the external environment and the attention of your mind is focused elsewhere.

The second cataleptic phase involves total paralysis of the physical body with absolutely no muscle movement at all. Though the limbs lie limp along with the body without any external sense perceptions, a lot of extra sensory perception takes place like that of hearing loud noises, ability to see through closed eyelids, tingling sensations or even severe vibrations. After the body has withdrawn from interacting with the external environment and in the state of sensing various extra sensory perceptions, the crucial time for the actual detachment comes. This is the phase where the actual out of body experience occurs with one's spirit or the perceptual being leaving the physical body and traveling forward. One feels a floating sensation and the spirit floats out observing the world from outside.

It is the most difficult phase of any out of body experience since even the slightest of apprehensions in the mind about not being able to return back into the body acts as an obstruction and does not let one travel forward.

The fourth stage of freedom is where the real out of body experience is enjoyed. After the initial inertia and a tendency to get pulled back into the body, your astral body starts moving freely once a certain distance is covered. Watching your own body from a distance can be an eerie but out of the world experience and you travel to higher planes and realms.

The last phase of the out of body experience consists of the re-entry of one's free force. Most of the time the individual's sudden anxiety regarding return, after he has traveled too far away from the body, results in a sudden pull-in, or sucking in or a sudden awakening from the experience. On the contrary it may also happen that instead of such suddenness, the re-entry is slow and gradual with a feeling of awakening from a deep trance. Out of body experiences are rare and extremely difficult to induce. But in talking about conducive conditions facilitating such experience, mention may be made of near death experiences and sleep.

In the first case, many recorded incidents show that people who have been victims of drowning, motor accidents and the like have felt themselves going out of their body for a brief period of time. Some have even seen the accident to happen from outside. Apart from this, out of body experiences almost all the time is linked with sleep. Either it happens before, after or during sleep as in the case of lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is when only the body sleeps but the mind is conscious, focused and in control of the dreams.

It may be at this time that the person leaves the body and traverses to other astral planes.

The best technique to induce out of body experiences is that of meditation.

It is singularly the most effective way of gaining control on one's subconscious mind, improve on powerful visualizations, and channeling of one's attention and energy. Apart from meditation, modern technological interventions like binaural beats may also come in handy in inducing out of body perceptions with its different sound vibrations.

These different sound waves going through each ear fuses into each other in the brain for creating a mental state that facilitates out of body experiences.

It can be concluded that such incidents are extremely rare and if one is fortunate enough to experience even one, it will be an experience of a life time.
