Using the precision of the Mayan's Long Calendar, prophetic aficionados, astronomers, astrologers, scientists and experts alike espouse a wide spectrum of beliefs on the coming end of the Long Calendar – among the many is that the world will end when the calendar ends. Fast approaching the end date of the Long calendar – December 21, 2012 – mankind is now faced with possibilities of a grim future. But no one really knows what will happen when this date hits.

The Mayas have no known record that explains in detail what had happened in the past or what will happen in the future. Strong believers of doomsday events, however, believe that mankind and his civilization will end along with the Long Calendar.

Time alone can tell whether the December 2012 polar shift and other apocalyptic events will truly turn the world upside down on December 21, 2012 or not, or whether the year that is being waited with much fear and fascination will be just like any other year.
