How Relaxation Music Will Help Alleviate Stress

Relaxation music can help ease stress. This is especially so when that music is created to help your brain align itself with the waves associated with relaxing. Brainwave entrainment is the synchronization of two or more rhythmic cycles. Basically if you play the right frequency for your brain it will synchronize to that frequency. Each of the brainwaves has a frequency it corresponds to. Delta waves are below 5 hertz.

Theta waves are 4-6 hertz. Alpha waves are 8-14 hertz and beta waves are 14-30 hertz. One way to introduce these frequencies to the brain is through binaural beats. Using headphones that cover the ears a frequency is played through music in each ear.

There is a slight difference in the frequencies. A different one in each ear and the brain perceives this difference as binaural beats.

The difference in frequency must be below 30 Hz in order for the brain to perceive it as beats.

The ears will otherwise hear separate tones instead.

In one ear there may be a 400 Hz frequency playing while in the other a 410 Hz frequency is playing.

The difference will be perceived as 10 hertz beats. This beat would be in the alpha wave range, which is what you want to produce relaxation. Another way to do the same is with isochronic tones.

It is one tone that is spaced to turn on and off in a pattern. This can be done with regular speakers, no headphones necessary.

These are said to be even more effective than binaural beats. Either one will work effectively as real relaxation music.
