Three magical numbers have a huge impact on our financial status.
These numbers are known as credit scores. Not only do they determine how much credit is available to you, but as well as interest rates. A lender will determine whether or not to loan you money based on this score. Ranging from three hundred to eight hundred and fifty, the higher the score, the better benefits you will see.
Interest rates will be higher if your numbers are low.
The score itself summarizes your entire credit report and lets the lender see your history. He or she can predict how likely you are to pay back what is given.
These numbers are calculated in many different ways. FICO is used by more lenders than any other scoring method. Everything from whether or not you pay your bills on time to how much debt you have on your plate will determine this magical number. How soon you pay your bills is a large factor when lending money is involved.
Items such as bankruptcies, late payments, and collection accounts fall into this category.
If these have happened fairly soon, numbers will drop. This will not look good on your part. At thirty percent, outstanding debt follows next. Basically, this is how much debt you have in total such as home, credit cards, and car loans.
It tells the lender exactly how much you still owe on any of the items mentioned.
If your credit cards are completely maxed out, this will have a negative impact when borrowing money. Keep your limit to less than twenty five percent per card.
If you've had credit for awhile, this is good news. Not only will it better your score, it shows a credit record that has been established.
Your proven efforts show you have no problem making your payments. Accounts that have been opened recently makes up for ten percent.
Your numbers will drop when this first happens. Don't worry.
It's completely normal.
If any hard inquiries occur, which are authorizations to look at your report, these can impact your credit.
The only ones that won't are soft inquiries.
Your current credit makes up the rest of the ten percent.
Your overall history and experience with the loans themselves are looked over. Having a variety of loan types will work to improve a score.
These include installment loans and revolving accounts. Understanding credit scores will benefit you when applying for any kind of credit in the near future.
These numbers can either have a positive or negative impact on not only your interest rates, but the type of credit as well. By paying your bills on time and keeping your overall debt low, you can have the freedom that comes with a good score.
