ERP managers these days are very concerned for one thing; how to manage the ERP. How to control the risk of the ERP so that one can get maximum output of the system?
There are few activities one can do for controlling the risk and to get the maximum output.
They are as follows -1.
Identifying the goal and objectives – First of all one has to understand the purpose of the ERP, or exactly the goal of the ERP or what will be the payout of the project. Senior management must take care of these issues and when there is any lack of direction they should guide the juniors so that they never loose the direction in the way of developing the ERP project.
In order to maintain a proper goal and objective management should maintain a project charter before the project begins. This project charter can help in keeping goal and the objective well in mind.
2. Defining the requirements – Proper definition of every requirement should be taken into account.
It should consists of the overview about the functionality of the product, the number of processes need to be followed, what sort of business process the project should project, every detailed documentation should de defined and based on that a high end design should be prepared.
3. Review/Created to be – After designing and defining the requirement when the actual process of development starts one has to always monitor the business process which is actually running and what else or new modifications can be done for the betterment of the project.
There can be always something missing in the existing process, so there should be always a scope of modify that with a new system.
4. Education of the Project – It means testing of the product with real time data available.
It has a benefit, with this kind of testing the user get a feel of how the product is going to run and it becomes a kind of training for the user.
5. System Testing – After training comes the demo period, the product should run as demo for 10 to 15 days to understand the inflow and outflow of the business process.
6. Data Conversion – After being satisfied with the demo, now time for real data mapping into every point of the ERP.
It's very stressful and one has to be very careful while mapping the data. 7. Go Live – Now the time has come for the newly designed ERP to work live and giving maximum benefits to the organization.
It should completely serve the purpose for which the ERP has been developed. Read more information on the Causes of ERP Failure . Read Microsoft Dynamics NAV Review – advantages and disadvantages. Find a list of reputed ERP Vendors in India .
