Our everyday attire is influenced by a piece of inspirational clothing. Far from our normal lives, models are walking the catwalk in Paris and Milan, and top fashion labels are inspired by the garments the models display.

High end fashion designers from America and Europe will source the inspiration for their next line from the top labels, and will use cheaper fabrics to produce a larger range of clothing, sold in stores on High Street. Unique European and American designers find themselves looking to the few high class labels for inspiration.

They create a wider more varied range of clothing which is less costly, with their own spin on it. Clothing for the masses, found in departments stores is yet another series of fashion inspired by that seen in small boutique shops, high fashion magazines and the catwalk. This is not the end of the chain; the fashion of the Pacific, Asia and Africa begin to resemble that seen at fashion week, twelve months or more later. Even self declared punks who loathe mainstream fashion will not be able to avoid buying something inspired by a single designer who dictates what the world will want to wear this season. Most people hold at least subconsciously, the belief that to style themselves in the same way as someone beautiful is also to attain that beauty. Thus we are inspired to purchase clothing we see advertised, and this inspiration pours money into our economy. On a less specifically fashion level, clothing can inspire society to change their moods, opinions and behaviours. For example perfectly coordinated workout gear inspires us to buy the outfit, get off the sofa and up our exercise routines.

If we look good in our sports clothes, we feel good and we want to exercise more. T-shirts advertising fund raising for disaster stricken regions, or diseases such as cancer, are inspirational in their own right.

These shirts inspire the sick to fight and the supporters to contribute. Charity T-shirts, for disaster relief or cancer, inspire us to donate money to the causes, and inspire those in need to stay strong. Expression through clothing is not uncommon. Seeing a unique appearance inspires people to create their individual look. Very direct messages can be seen on slogan T-shirts.

These messages are sometimes funny, bite me to heartfelt, save the children.
